Which Mahaska YMCA fitness program are you going to choose? Will it be in the water or out? Do you need a beginner fitness class or something more intense? The Y does its best to make sure there’s a class size to fit all.

YMCA Group Exercise

  • Body Conditioning: This is a self-paced but motivating class. Always changing, always challenging. Come mix it up and put as much effort in as you can; your body will grow and adapt the more you come. It’s a mix of HIIT, Tabatta, Plyo and bodyweight exercises.
  • Family Fit Camp: This is a great class if you’re looking for something different each workout.  Our Instructor is kid friendly and encourages you to bring you’re children to class and workout.  You will be taken through a spin class, BodyPump, HIIT exercises and more.

  • FUNctional Fitness: Have fun, make friends and stay active in this class that focuses on functional movements for daily life.  Using a chair for balance and support, FUNctional Fitness will get you moving with proper warm-up, cool-down, and plenty of action in between using weights, bands, and balls.
  • Water Aerobics: This class offers a great aerobic workout while taking the strain off joints in the water.  Participants will go through stretching, cardiovascular exercises, and strength training exercises.  Each participant will have their own set of water weights to use during the strength training portion. No swimming experience is necessary.
  • Deep Water Aerobics: For a new twist on the classic water aerobics class, try deep water on for size.  While focusing on a complete workout with stretching, cardio, core, and strengthening exercises, deep water aerobics is sure to hit the spot for aqua fanatics.
  • Body Combat: LES MILLS BODYCOMBAT is a high-energy martial arts-inspired workout that is totally non-contact. Punch and kick your way to fitness and burn up to 740 calories in a class. No experience needed. Learn moves from Karate, Taekwondo, Boxing, Muay Thai, Capoeira and Kung Fu. Release stress, have a blast, and feel like a champ. Bring your best fighter attitude and leave inhibitions at the door.
  • BODYPUMP: The original LES MILLS barbell class, BODYPUMP will sculpt, tone and strengthen your entire body, fast! Great bodies aren’t born, they are transformed, using the proven BODYPUMP formula: THE REP EFFECT a breakthrough in resistance workout training.  Focusing on low weight loads and high repetition movements, you’ll burn fat, gain strength and quickly produce lean body muscle conditioning.
  • Jump Start: This class is for anyone new to working out and learning how to do basic beginner bodyweight exercises correctly.  This class is strictly bodyweight only and lasts 30 minutes.  This is a great class to kick start your day and to learn proper techniques.
