Classic and premium membership include unlimited access to all fitness classes. Preferred rates are offered to members enrolled in the Basic YMCA membership plan. Non-members are invited to contact the Y regarding class fees and availability.

Class Descriptions:

Total Body toning: This class if a full body, 45 minutes weight circuit in the fitness studio. Get ready to target every muscle from head to toe utilizing free weights and body weights. Lunges, squats, curls, tricep extensions, and push-up are just a few exercises to expect. |

Ab Lab: Combine your ab workout and target your lower body for this heart pumping class. A variety of abdominal exercises will be used including crunches, supermans, skywalkers, bicycles, and more. Expect a wide variety of conditioning exercises to be thrown in the mix. |

Group Cycling: Challenge yourself with a 45 minute stationary ride that focuses on increasing endurance and speed, to include both interval and anaerobic training. This class is sure to maximize your caloric burn, all in a non-competitive environment. |

Silver Sneakers MS-ROM: Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated and/or standing support. Back to top. |

Water Aerobics: This class offers a great aerobic workout while taking the strain off joints in the water. Participants will go through stretching, cardiovascular exercises, and strength training exercises. Each participant will have their own set of water weights to use during the strength training portion. No swimming experience is necessary. |

Body Assault: This class offers a full body workout using various techniques including plyometrics and strength training with body and free weights. Participants should expect an array of exercises in this class including: squats, lunges, pushups, medicine ball exercises, sprints, jump rope work, ab exercises, etc. Cardio conditioning is sure to be part of the assault! |

Intro to Body Assault: Join the class making an immediate impact on the fitness levels of members of the Mahaska County YMCA. This intro version of body assault is for the novice to intermediate participants, looking to make a change in their lives and overall health. |

Yoga: Whether you are a yoga beginner or a dedicated enthusiast, this yoga class is for you! Learn body awareness, optimal posture, and body mechanics during this 45-minute class. Instructors will use a variety of yoga poses to encourage participants to strengthen their lower back, abdominal muscles, legs, and upper body. Experience the meditative benefits of yoga through an array of purposeful movements. This class promotes balance, flexibility, and stress reduction. Back to top. |
