Ways to Give

Memorial Gifts

Making a memorial gift to the YMCA is a special way to celebrate the life of a friend or loved one. When you give to the Y in their honor, it provides a living remembrance for generations to come. Honorary gifts may also be given to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, holidays, and other special occasions.

Many people choose to designate the YMCA for memorial gifts to honor family or friends. These special gifts work to benefit the Mahaska Community far into the future. Executive Director Dawn Collins can answer initial questions you may have about Memorial Gifts but it is also suggested a legal advisor be consulted.

Endowments & Planned Giving

Endowments and Planned Giving ensure the continued service of your YMCA. This type of fund provides a stable source of income to ensure that the YMCA continues its mission for future generations. Proceeds from the principal can be unrestricted in use or designated for a specific purpose.

Types of endowment gifts might include cash or cash equivalents, charitable requests, property, or life insurance. Executive Director Dawn Collins can answer initial questions you may have about Endowments and Planned Giving, but it is also suggested a legal advisor be consulted.

Endowments Are Used To:

  • Enhance current programs
  • Provide financial assistance for programs and/or member fees
  • Begin new programs
  • Improve or maintain your YMCA facility

Annual Giving Campaign

Annual giving campaigns provide an opportunity to give either one-time or monthly donations. Participating in the annual giving campaign allows the Mahaska County YMCA to fulfill its mission to turn no individual or family away due to an inability to pay the stated fees and provide our open doors income based pricing.

Your gift allows others the experience of growing stronger in body, mind and spirit through Y membership, sports, child care, exercise classes, swim lessons and more. Each year donor gifts allow Y volunteers and staff to reach out to many people within the Mahaska Community.

The 2011 Campaign is currently underway with a $90,000 goal.

Capital Giving

Fundraising is currently underway for a pool lift and gymnastics equipment. For more information about how to contribute, contact YMCA Executive Director Dawn Collins at 641.673.8411 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Across the United States, more than 500,000 business leaders, community advocates, parents, teens and individuals who want to give back and support their neighbors volunteer at the Y. That’s because in 10,000 neighborhoods nationwide YMCAs have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver positive, personal and social change.

With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, Y volunteers give men, women and children of all ages and from all walks of life the resources and support they need to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.
