YMCA OSKALOOSA FOOTBALL LEAGUE FLAG & TACKLE FOOTBALL:
The fall youth flag and tackle football program boasts some of the highest registration numbers the YMCA sees. With a flag division for grades 1-2 and tackle divisions for 3-4 and 5-6 graders, this program emphasizes the fundamentals of football through practices and live games. Through the help of numerous volunteer coaches and parents willing to donate their time and energy, this program has successfully grown in popularity in recent years.
In-season practices occur during the week out at the Lacey Complex with games taking place on Saturdays at the same site. The 5-6 graders love the extra opportunity they are provided as their league includes travel games in competitions with surrounding community teams.
INDOOR FLAG FOOTBALL: Children in grades K-2 who can't ever get enough football action partake in an indoor flag football session during the winter months. Taking place on site at the YMCA, this sports program focuses on fun, friends, and fundamentals. At the heart of the program are topics related to passing, agility and conditioning drills, receiving and rushing.
Always as hit, the indoor flag football program is sure to have a few collegiate players stop by to help and support the development of local youth. Whether your child is new to the game of football or lives to pick up the pigskin, indoor flag football is sure to set him or her on the fast track to a love of the game. |
