Pacesetters to Pennies
The City, who will own the Center, has committed $11.5 million of local option sales tax revenues, and the school has committed $7.5 million of their penny tax funding. The Y will be the Center operator, and we are doing our part to raise funds to cover the balance of the project cost, as well as create a $2 million endowment. This endowment will ensure we can continue to maintain and update the building for the future. We are seeking corporate donations and grant funding of about $14.5 million. Given that the Y touches the lives of so many in the community, $5 million of the campaign is designed to include $1.7 million in personal donations, so many in the community can participate individually as their resources allow.
To allow these penny investments to go further, the George Daily Family Trust has pledged to match every penny from the community with two of their own. Click the link below to jump in and help build our new Y!
All gifts to the Mahaska County YMCA Endowment Foundation to support the new Recreation and Early Childhood Education Center are greatly appreciated. All donors will be recognized on The Y Donor Wall, which will be located in the new facility. Giving levels will be distinguishable.
All gifts are tax deductible in accordance with Federal and Iowa state laws.
