- Where will the new building be located?
The new building will be located east of the Oskaloosa Elementary School and south of the Lacey Recreation Complex on Green Street.
- What amenities will be available?
The new center will include a 6-lane competition pool, a warm water recreation/therapy pool, a splash pad, three multipurpose rooms, two fitness rooms with cardio and weight equipment, a spin room, outdoor playgrounds, racquetball courts, a gymnasium, and elevator to provide access for all patrons, and 24-hour access to the fitness areas.
- Where is the funding coming from?
The City of Oskaloosa has pledged $11.5 million of its local option sales tax revenue and the Oskaloosa Community School District has pledge $7.5 million for construction. The City and School funds are derived from sales tax dollars. No property tax dollars have been pledged for the project. The remaining funds will come from grants and donations from industries and individuals.
- Do I have to have a membership to use the Center?
The Y welcomes all members of the community, but memberships will be required for access to the facility. The YMCA offers financial assistance for those who qualify.
- Who will own the Center?
The City of Oskaloosa will own the facility and the YMCA will be the operator.
- What is the project timeline?
Construction has begun, facility will open after it is released to the Y by the contractor and the city.
